Course Overview

Workplace chaplaincy is a unique and vital ministry that meets people exactly where they are - in the midst of their daily work. This 6-session cohort-based course is designed to equip you with the foundational skills, theological insights, and practical tools needed to provide a transformative presence in any work environment.

Through a mix of live interactive sessions, personal reflection, and collaborative discussion, we will explore how to engage with people at work, see the workplace as a site of God’s mission, and develop the "P’s" of chaplaincy: Presence, Pastoral care, Prophetic voice, Prayer, Praise, and Priesthood.

What You Will Learn

  • The Mission of Presence: Discover why "being there" is the first and most vital skill of a chaplain.
  • Active Listening & Empathy: Master the core pastoral skills needed to build trust and navigate difficult conversations.
  • Theology of Work: Learn to make connections between the Christian faith and the everyday experiences of workers, from retail to emergency services.
  • Navigating the Economy: Understand the forces that shape work - such as zero-hours contracts and the gig economy - and how to respond as a "critical friend".
  • Practicalities & Ethics: Gain essential knowledge on confidentiality, safeguarding, and negotiating access to workplaces.
